Frequently Asked Questions

How can I contact you directly?

You can reach me by selecting any of the “contact” buttons on this website. You can also reach me by e-mail at Elly@ellyhumphreylmhc.com or by phone at (617) 297-7306. The best way to get in touch is by this website or by e-mail.

What is your availability like?

At this time, I have a few immediate openings for telehealth appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the afternoons. Please contact me for more details about specific availability and scheduling.

Do you write letters for gender-affirming surgery or hormone therapy? How much does it cost?

I provide these services free of charge. Please note that I have a limited number of slots available for these services and prioritize clients who do not have health insurance and/or cannot otherwise afford to pay for a session to get a letter.

What type of payment do you accept and what are your fees?

I do not accept health insurance at this time. My fee is a sliding scale of $175 - $250 per session for individual therapy and $200 - $300 per session for couples/relationship/family therapy. You can choose the fee within the given ranges which you feel best reflects your access to resources and personal comfort.

I do offer “superbills” which you can provide to your insurance company to request reimbursement for the fee if you have out of network benefits.

Please contact me directly to discuss fees related to training, consultation, and speaking engagements.

What does the process of starting work together look like?

When I receive your message, e-mail, or call, I will do my best to respond to your inquiry in a timely manner. If you are seeking therapy services, you may choose to engage in a brief (~15 minute) phone consultation to ask any questions you might have and determine if you are interested in scheduling an appointment. If you do choose to schedule an appointment, I will follow up by e-mailing you required documentation to fill out prior to your first appointment. From there, we can begin meeting via video or phone for appointments.

If you are seeking training, consultation, or a speaker for an event, I will get back to you as soon as possible to discuss your specific needs, rates, etc., and determine next steps from there.

Do you offer any in-person therapy appointments?

At this time, I am offering appointments only through Telehealth, meaning video or phone sessions. At some point, I may choose to offer in-person options, but I cannot guarantee if or when this will occur. If meeting in person is essential to your needs at this time, we will not be a good fit to work together.

Are trainings, consultations, and speaking engagements in-person or remote?

I take this on a case-by-case basis. I do offer phone and video options, but depending upon the nature of the request, I may be able to offer in-person options for these services upon request. Please contact me to further discuss what you are looking for and I will provide more specific feedback about what I can offer.

Do you offer any therapy groups?

I am not currently offering group therapy at this time, but if this is something you are interested in, you are welcome to contact me to let me know what type of group you might be interested in. If this is an interest of yours, I would also encourage you to check back regularly, as group therapy offerings may be posted in the future.

How can I support others who may not be able to afford services in getting access?

One way you can help is to pay extra within the sliding scale. Fees over the minimum help me to provide these services more easily. I also accept donations. Please contact me if you are interested in learning more about how to support access to services or making a donation.
